Beyond its history, the roughly 40-acre park offers a peaceful natural setting with opportunities for birdwatching, photography, picnicking, and walking. Visitors often spend one to two hours exploring the museum and grounds, though special living-history events and reenactments can extend the visit. Because the park sits beside coastal marshes, insect repellent is recommended during warmer months.
